This presentation examines transient-source carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning as an emerging occupational safety hazard associated with temporary fuel-burning equipment used in enclosed or partially enclosed work areas. Using OSHA hospitalization data\, the presenters identify common exposure sources\, contributing conditions\, and gaps in workplace hazard recognition. The program presents practical prevention strategies\, including portable CO monitoring\, ventilation\, safer equipment selection\, worker training\, and CO shutoff technology.\n\nEric Thibodeaux is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) with more than 35 years of experience in occupational safety\, health\, environmental management\, and risk reduction.
